Beth Fiedorek is facilitating a series of monthly reading/discussion groups with the tentative theme of "Informal Formalisms". She'll be focusing on the political potential of artworks that are particularly engaged with formal aspects – material, shape, color, etc. Specific readings are yet to be determined but will include selections from Ina Blom’s Beyond the Style Site. Part the discussion will examine how beauty and poetics have historically been co-opted into commodity desire, so as to anticipate and prevent it.

The first readings will consist of a column from Anuradha Vikram and a selection from a book of writings on Abstraction, see below:
